If you have to remove the crossover pipe then their are 2 bolts on both ends of the pipe leading into the manifolds. So from what you can see, you have to remove the heat shield which is cased around the exhaust manifold crossover pipe and if you still can't get enough room to remove the thermostat, (which you amy find out)then you'll have to remove the crossover pipe as well just to change the thermostat. NICE, it gives you very little room to remove the 2 bolts to the housing and once u remove those then you'll find you have the thermostat housing loose but because of that darn exhaust manifold crossover pipe u don't have enough room to take the thermostat housing out to change the stinking thermostat. Remove the air filter assembly and you'll c what is the exhaust manifold crossover pipe right in front of the thermostat housing. Follow the upper radiator hose and it leads into the block under the throttle body. The thermostat is in a difficult position. Also check the relay connector, mine was corroded out and had to be replaced as well. This worked as a temporary fix on my old '91 APV. If no volts at the motor connector, try whacking the blower relay at the upper portion of the firewall about a foot to the left of the blower. Seems to be working 100% now (for the time being). So I just continued whacking from different directions until I seemed to have aligned things - max speed, no squeel. So I whacked it more, the squeel lessened & the motor speeded up. There was, so I took a soft hammer and whacked the motor casing a few times. There are 4 screws in the housing, but don't know if disconnecting & removing the screws will allow you withdraw the blower assy on the engine side of the firewall.įor me, I checked there was volts at the blower electrical connector. On my '95 Trans Sport (I don t think theere's any difference - under the hood - look about the middle of the firewall near the top.
